1 Tim 4:12
12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

Apostle Paul instructed Timothy his son in the Lord to be an example for other believers in various aspects of life. This instruction is also for every believer for it is what is expected of us as Ambassadors of the kingdom of heaven here on earth. To follow this command, one should focus on being a role model in speech (both what you say and how you say it), in conduct (actions and attitudes), in love for others, your faith and trustworthiness, and your moral purity.
An example is a person or a way of behaving that is seen as a model that should be followed. An example is one that serves as a pattern to be imitated (a good example).
In speech
- Be mindful of your words, using them to build others up rather than tear them down.
- Speak with knowledge and understanding, and ensure your language is appropriate.
In conduct
- Let your daily actions and attitudes model Christ’s behavior.
- Live a life that is above reproach and reflects the teachings of the gospel.
In love
- Demonstrate the kind of love described in 1 Corinthians 13.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
4. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
NIV
- Act in a way that shows love and compassion to those around you, regardless of their circumstances.
In faith
- Place your trust in God’s promises and not in the world’s solutions.
- Be a person who is both trustworthy and faithful in your relationship with God and others.
In purity
- Live a life of moral purity, making decisions that are above reproach, especially in a society that may be corrupt or pagan.
- This applies to all aspects of life, from your thoughts to your deeds.
Bear in mind that people are watching, reading and analyzing you. They are learning about Jesus through your attitude, words, behaviour and general conduct. Be a good example to follow. Let others be convicted to follow Jesus through your conduct.
I pray that your life will be a source of inspiration and a tool in changing others and bringing them closer to the Lord Jesus in Jesus name.
